first time i have accessed my credit report, please advise me

I have signed upto Equifax, its the first time I have ever looked at my credit report. Was wondering if anyone could advise of what I have found....

On it, It has a linked address that is my ex boyfriends address, should this worry me at all?
Also in Alias  there is 3 logged for things i have never heard of before!
is this worrying? would it affect my credit rating? and can I get it deleted?

Also from 2006 and 2007, there is 3 defualts on my account  one for a company called cabot financial! anyone heard of this? one for capquest, and one for pheonix recoveries (which is saying my ex's address, but 2007? i didnt even know him back then!)
What can I do about these?

    Hi

All three companies you quote are well known DCAs rahter than the original company who you might have dealt with.

If you lived at your BF's address or if you ever had a joint account, his address will be linked to you.

Are there any accounts in arrears prior to 2006 that you know about?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I never lived with my ex, and iI never had a joint account with him, so its puzzling.

In regards to the defaults, possibly an electric bill or something for a house i moved out of (i moved house 3 times in one year), they are all for small amounts of like £68 and that, I have never recieved anything from them since way before 2007!
the defualt only says default, no information prior or since, does this mean that this when they last tried to contact me or something? I dont even know what the debts are for and for the last 2 and half years that I have been living here, I definatly havent recieved any letters saying I owe money to anyone.

Do the defaults ever disapeer? (sp?) Or if I found out what they were for and paid them, would they change to settled? I don't really fancy calling these companies though!:rotfl:

  • Hi Following this previous post maybe someone could help / advise me.

I previously had a debt with Littlewoods, who got Phoenix Recoveries to contact me, this was around two years ago. After the first letter from Pheonix I had a second letter from a group called Capquest. I set up a payment plan with Capquest and gradually paid of the £350 debt, I made a final payment on 19/02/09 for £149 to settle this and recieved a letter back shortly from Capquest acknowledging reciept of my final payment and stating the account is now satisfied and closed.

Well this week (14th Dec 09) I have a letter through the door from a company called Adventis Credit stating they are instructing on behalf of Pheonix Recoveries about an outstanding debt I have with Littlewoods for £350. So this makes me sick and Im think I paid that off ages ago (03/2009!) So I dug out the letter from capquest to double check that I had paid them off, checked dates etc.

I rang up Adventis Credit tonight and told them they shouldn't be hassling me as I paid the debt off ages ago through another company and why are writing to me, who gave them my details etc. It seems that Pheonix sell on the debts to Advantis Credit?

So the person I spoke to says I must send them the copy of the letter from Capquest dating back to the 19.02.09 to show I did pay the full amount off and then they can look in to it.

Is this right? can they really request this? Im confused? When I searched Advantis Credit through google lots of results stated that this could be a scam?

I would be most grateful for any help / responses!
