How long for tax repayment from IR?

I've just filed my 08-09 tax return online and it turns out that the IR owe me money.
How long does it usually take to get my money back?

Hello, I got one within a few weeks a while back, but the amount was low.

People on MSE have reported that "security checks" are carried out before they send you the refund if the amount overpaid is large.

Your question relates to FY 2008/09, so they should pay you as soon as possible in theory.

DH gets a large rebate every year due to his overseas work - he puts his return in asap he gets his P60 which is always end of May as that is the deadline for the company to give it out. He usually gets his rebate paid in sometime in late June or just into July. So we have always found them pretty quick HTH

If you completed the repayment detail on the Return .... you should have it in just a few days (unless it gets picked for a security check). No comparison with the potential of months - for a repayment from a paper Return / R40 etc.

Well I sent everything in August, chased up end of November, and still waiting! End of November they said they had located my paper work and would get it sorted within 14 days, that was 23rd November and still nothing!

Filed mine online on a Sunday evening and the repayment was in my bank account on Thursday

Just an update from me, letter arrived today, they have picked figured out of the air with regards to my car benefit, they do not match what was on my p11d sent to them, resulting in tem saying I owe them loads of money! have called in to be told I have to wait 2 or 3 days from a call from them....Aaarhhhhhhh!
