CSA not taking this months payment

I am getting little worried as this months payment due on 26th November has not been taken.

I've not heard from anyone, including my childs mum which I think is strange.

Does anyone know why the CSA might not have taken payment, or is this one of their potential horror stories about to come up?

The DD is still setup but they have not requested the money?

It could be that they haven't issued the DD instuctions in time to take the payment (it is something like 14 days notice before first payment can be taken).

Having said that, arrears will start building up even though it is not your fault it wasn't taken.

Personally I would phone to ask why - at least it shows willing on your side.
  • Could the fact that the mother has moved be a reason at all?

I'm sure it wouldn't as it's just a transfer of CSA offices, but after a long time, just found it strange suddenly they not taken the money.

But why would you want them to do a DEO. What business of my works is it about my personal life?

Also, if you fail to pay you, they use this as a intimidation method, so not something to really want.

Keep on their case, I had similar earlier in the year, my SO were being bounced back, after about 3 weeks they were being accepted again.

I would give them a ring and ensure that it has been logged that you have the funds available but they have not been taken. Ask them to chase it up to see if there is an issue, and if there is see if youcan either pay a different way for this payment or have the DD set up again with these funds included for Decembers payment (as its the 9th today that may be getting a bit close). If it is logged though you can show that you did not wilfully not pay and so there is no reason for a DEO to be imposed.

I didn't want the DEO they wanted more so decided to take 40% from my salary after i was reassesed .They hadn't even calculated that out properly either so i am waiting on the notification of the new ammount that the complaints team sorted out .

But the DEO is still legally binding :D
  • this happened to us about 5 years ago, paying DD no problems and what they asked for. they stopped taking and we didn't know why and then few payslips later had a DEO.
    still don't know why!!!
funny thing was we were paying nearly £300 by DD (which we were fine with) and only took £113 by DEO (and nothing to do with wages!!).
They have no idea what they are doing

I'd like to congratulate you, but be wary the idiots don't land you with a massive arrears bill if they find out they've made a mistake.

  • I phoned them on Friday and the guy looked through the system and said that someone had made some changes somehow on the account internally and hence no request was made from them to my bank. He went through some stuff and accepted my card payment and he guarenteed that I wouldn't be charged twice next month once they have re activated it.

I recorded part of the call so have some backup.

    Very strange though.
