Hi,
i got bit messy on friday evening. Today i have deposited 230 pounds in cash and 66 pounds in cheque in one of HSBC branches.
but i dont know why the amount is not credited to my account till now( Generally it will be credited immediately).
my problem is now i am in overdraft and when my bills get cleared on monday i may be overdrawn over my overdraft limit..
now i calld their financial servies they said they cannot increase my overdraft limit becaus it was increasd less than 3 months ago. fair enough.
my questions are
1. can i claim the charges etc if they charge that..
2. does it has any effect on my credit scoring , if so what can i doo
please help
u r advices will be appreaciated.
Thanks in advance

I'd be on the phone to them over the weekend demanding they sort it out and make them agree that if any charges are acrued they will be refunded with a note that it was not your fault. You have nothing to lose by taking the line that it is their fault and they must sort it. I've jsut won a similar battle with Halifax on behalf of my daughter - she went over her overdraft but the same day I put money into her acount - they charged her awful fees but on the statement it showed as the money going in before the other came out and they caved in when I insisted but it took 20 minutes of insisting!! Good luck. :T£2 saver club £16 so far!! - it's growing!!! :j

Hi Saverram:hello:
Can't answer your questions I'm afraid, but I think the reason you might not be able to see the money in your account yet is if you paid both the cash and the cheque in on the one paying in slip, as the slip is officially cleared once the longest "part" has had a chance to clear, if you see what I mean - in this case the cheque, which can take about three days.
I bank with HSBC and the staff in my local branch advised me to pay cash and cheques in on separate paying in slips to avoid this wait. The cash is then credited immediately and the cheque a few days later.
However, if you are using online banking to check, you may find that cheques are credited to your account on screen overnight, rather than during the day immediately as is usually the way with cash (around 1am or 2am is usually the time that mine seem to be added on) - not sure whether Friday night or Sunday night will be when this happens though because of the weekend. You should be able to see that the money has been paid in; you just might not be able to draw funds against the cheque for three days, but I would have thought that they wouldn't stop you drawing against the cash - even if it was on the same paying in slip.
Either way, I would fight it if you get charges as a result of not being able to use the funds paid in in cash... Even if your statement shows a delay in the money arriving in your account, you have proof of paying money in on Friday therefore proving that funds were with the bank and paid into your account before the bills go out on Monday.
Good Luck!:D
