Hi ya,
i'm after an inexpensive foundation and eye shadow primer. I've been told that urban decay potion is very good but very expensive aswell. unfortunately i cannot justify spending that much money on it.
what do you thing of these - Smashbox primer
also i read this on one of the beauty beards " If you want a money saving version of this the beauty board swear by lanacaine anti chafe gel instead - it has exactly the same ingredients and many say it works as well for amount a tenner less"
anyother reccommendations thanks
ps has anyone tried the anti chafing gel as a primer?

I have tried Smashbox but hated it as it blocked my pores badly. I have also got UDPP and yes, it is brilliant, eyeshadow lasts a lot longer.GOSH at Superdrug do a primer and eyeshadow base (stick form) they have 3 for the price of 2 at the moment. Haven't tried the anti-chafe gel yet.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

I can't vouch for any others, but the Urban Decay one lasts ages, especially if you cut it open to get the last bits out. I use a tiny amount, and my eyeshadow has lasted 15 hours before without creasing or moving0

An industry tip for a primer is a very thin layer of Milk of magnesia, I have tried this and it does work, maybe a bit too well as my very oily skin felt tight (not too bad though) but looked perfect until I took it off, a super cheap foundation I'm loving atm is wet n wild from Tescos (£1.97;)) very very similar to EL double wear light, milk of magnesia also has the same ingredients as most primers:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Sorry about the big gap of my post i will try to edit)
thanks will try the milk of mangesia.0 -
I will also try the milk of magnesia. There is something in the Urban Decay one that my skin reacts to. I've used it twice and each time I've had a burning sensation on my eyelids.0

Maybelline for foundation- they are all great but the pure minerals and satin finish ones are great!
For primer, the Gosh primer (from superdrug) is great, its basicly silicon but does a great job of creating a smooth surface and meaning makeup isn't affected by bodily fluids of any sort!
But don't use the Gosh product every day- its silicon so can leave you with very dry skin as a result.0 -
I got the Soap & Glory primer - it's in a silver tube and all Soap & Glory is on 3 for 2 at Boots ATM. I find it is so good that I only need concealer and a once over with bronzing powder - no foundation needed! It isn't silicone based so doesn't clog pores either. It's called Bright Here Bright now, and I also use their Fill Monty which you use to fill in lines and wrinkles and Trick and Treatment eye primer. The each cost around £8 - £10. I think they are all really good (and I have spent the equivilant of the Bolivian national debt on this sort of stuff over the last 20 years:o)Jane

I just bought this today along with some stocking fillers for dd, I bought it as a brightner rather than a primer, Soap & Glory products are made by the same company as Bliss products, I'm a huge fan and cant wait to try it out, I'm hoping it will be a cheaper alternative to EL Spotlight and a bit kinder on the skin:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
the best ever eye primer ive seen is revlon vital radiance primer, its a round pot and comes in a see thru packet with purple card background, and best thing of all...you can find it in poundshop lol. Its very cheap, think TJ hughes also stock it, i picked it up thinking wont harm to try for £1 and its amazing honest, my eyeshadow lasts so much longer and doesnt fade with it..:happyhear0

the best base for any kind of eyeshadow is your foundation and just a light shade of eyeshadow. you need to build the layers up for the base and then start on the eyeshadow colour itself. i can spend a good hour doing eyeshadow alone and still cant get it to stay put for a few hours on models. ive tried so many products and am still trying to find a really good one!
i have heard good things about the benefit eyecon0
