Looking for Inspiration in working online to make more money..

I'm tired of all those survey sites. The only solid option for now i have is dooyoo, in which i can write up good quality reviews for cash. Is there anything else work-based?

I've looked into blogging, but the ones you make cash from, for each post are all American like today.com, and i don't want to mess with dollars, due to the exchange rate, and i don't know if that can be transferred easily through Paypal. Also, the websites seem a bit iffy to me.

Is there anything else, or is blogging the only other option?

  • Have you considered affiliate marketing, it seems like the next logical step and there is lots of potential in it. I am not sure if you know what affiliate marketing is but lots of large well known brands/companies use it in the UK to increase sales of their product / service.

Affiliate marketing involves you having a website and promoting a product or a service by writing reviews or creating content based around the product that would encourage people to purchase the product. Your site would link to the brand / company's website and people could click through and any sale made from that visitor would mean you would get a commission from the sale. A lot of people are making money from this at the moment.

The best thing to do is visit some affiliate networks and see if there is something that you would like to promote online, the big players are affiliatefuture.com for more travel and leisure based products, affiliatewindow.com for electrical and highprofitsfor digital based products. There is a product out there for anyone really. Alternatively

After you have chosen the affiliate network and product you want you to promote you will need to decide how to build the website - a great way to get a site online fast with little technical knowledge is use wordpress. It is easy to use and really simple to get advice and support on as it is widely used.

There are plenty of free designs in wordpress too and I think you will find something you like and get an understanding for how it works pretty quickly - just remember to keep on top of updates.

You will also need a host and a domain, once you have a better understanding of what direction you want to take, choose a domain that matches your product and search for a host that offers what you need (get cpanel - it enables you to have better control without too much knowledge).

Add content to your blog and get started.

If you need any more help on affiliate marketing let me know.
  • Hi, i think this is an excellent option, because i already have a good idea for a blog, which is something i've done before, and having a free platform to do it in. I will sign up for affiliatefuture.com, plus get cpanel.

What would be the preferred domains for the blog website?
  • Surely if you are only working on Affiliate Marketing & Sales you are just writing content for the few pence it can earn you?

Is there seriously any money that can be made? I always thought you would need a massive audience of readers to get anything close to a decent sum from this type of online business?
  • If you are able to write good content you could always look at hubpages (a US top 100 website). I have just started over there and the opportunity looks good if you are willing to put some effort into it. Basically you write short articles and earn money from google adsense and affiliate programs (ebay/amazon). You can also promote products using affiliate links etc. I have a few hubs on there which are performing quite well and have google no 1 and no 2 spots for a number of search terms! I can't post links yet but if you google merseyblue hubpages my profile will be number 1. Take a look at that and see what you think! As an added bonus you can read all about my OBE....
    Good luck x

Why not have a look at squidoo.com ? I haven't done anything serious, and got quite a surprise when people started buying books on amazon that I talked about, and then my commission got paid into my paypal account - not very much, but then I only spent about 1/2 hour writing that lens.

Lots of advice on a blog by potpiegirl.com .

Might be worth a look. You get paid a percentage of the adsense earning for the site, and can get commission from any (non-!!!!!!) affiliate site, as well as advertising cafepress, amazon and other affiliate stuff. Squidoo seems to have a good reliability reputation and always gets quite good google rankings.

There's a lot of advice on the forums there too. And the lenses are easy to write with the module choices etc.

Like most self-employed work online it takes time, knowledge and experience to build up a decent income. And yes you do need decent traffic to pull in decent profit. Thats where your marketing comes in and search-engine optimization, money won't roll in because a page was up on the net except a few £ at the most like you say if people don't know how to find it. If you take it very seriously and do your research and put time into it, it is a viable income stream. But its easy to feel disheartened early on or feel overwhelemed by the amount of information overload if you look into it.

I know I got information overload myself and gave up for now as I am not much into writing so instead I looked into making money from my art and other skills. But if you can write content I would definitely try affiliate marketing. Just remember that affiliate marketing isn't just about straight product reviews, it is also (maybe moreso?) about making a site with useful information. For example you could have a website that talks about general travel tips and safety. And put the adverts and so on in amongst that useful information that people will actually be wanting to look for. They may look for "ways to stay safe abroad" and get your page and find useful unbiased information about general safety tips and then become interested in some safety DVDs, travel insurance offers or whatever else you included in amongst the free information. Think first about providing content as this builds up a bit of trust, if they feel you are an honest person with a valuable amount of knowledge on a subject outside of just its products they are more likely to feel better going on your say-so as to the value of a product.

Also don't forget to use other income options like Google Adsense on the sites you are writing information on so even if they don't follow through to buy something from your affiliates you still earn a bit of money. Google Adsense is very easy to set up and is another decent money maker if you can find a popular topic and get the views.

Theres a very handy online income blog listing some good forums with communities that deal with affiliate marketing which contain a wealth of info, but as I said, its also an information overload, try not to get too caught up on the research and not enough of the getting stuck in. I still can't post links but if you google "top affiliate marketing forums doshdosh" the first link is it.
