though this is a great deal I wouldnt recomend getting a 12gb console, especially if its for an avid gamer.

I have a PS3 and only play once in a while and have used up 62gb of space.

Edit - I see the console itself is still 159.95 which is still the best price for the console alone I've seen lately. Just no more free Forza but there are some other specials like half price xbl or Fifa when combined.

My PS3 is on its last legs and very nearly got this offer but it was out of stock, the it occured to me to check my usage and a 12gb isnt enough.

Unlike the Xbox the playstation likes to install around 2-4gb of each game before you can even play it.

Which is good and bad, its great as it runs faster etc but a real pain when you get home all excited about a new game then have to sit and wait for it to install.

After a huge amount of effort searching around for the best value xbox, I found the place to go was in fact Morrisons....

250GB Console only - £150.00

250GB Console with Kinect and Kinect Adventures Game - £225.00

And by far the best deal which I picked up for our 10 year old was the Star Wars special edition 320GB Console with Kinect, Kinect Adventures Game and Kinect Star Wars Game - £200.00

Thats £25 cheaper for an additional 70GB of storage and the Star Wars game. The console is in the style of R2D2 with a gold C3PO controller and a white Kinect sensor. May be a downside to anybody not into Star Wars or wanting the plain black console but for our DS and for the saving etc it was well worth it.

As Morrisons do not sell online, it can be a bit tricky to find. Our closest store had the Star Wars case on display but I was then told they didnt have any in stock. Think this was down to a lack of enthusiasm to look by the staff more than anything. I went to the next closest store and they only had the console only or console with Kinect cases. I asked about the Star Wars and the first girl told me they didn't sell console and game packages even after explaining to her their other store did. After settling for a console only the chap comes down to say they have non in stock but low and behold they do have a Star Wars console if I would like it.

Morale of the story..... Online is not always the best value, you may have to do some leg work and you may come up against some opposition. Push them a little and ask them to check anyway.

True, but you can still check offline offers online. Admittedly it isn't always the most relaible way to check offline deals.

However, you could start by searching somewhere like HotUKDeals. People post their most recent offer finds on there whether online, offline or both.

Can save a lot of leg work as well. Otherwise you are right if you are prepared to check what high street stores are offering.
