Hi,
First post so please be gentle!
I have had a car loan from wfs and still have £1100 outstanding.
I am being made redundant at the end of this month and will receive a very small payment which, I plan to share between my creditors.
I sent wfs head office a recorded delivery letter offering them £600 as full and final settlement.
They have just called stating that they can only accept 75% of the balance as a full and final settlement.I said I couldnt manage that and the girl says her manager would accept a 600 payment then write off the debt.
I requested a letter stating this but she said she couldn't do this as they "dont do" Adhoc letters. When I asked how do i know they wouldn't then chase me for the balance? she replied I have to take her word.
Can anyone advise where I stand or what I should do as I have seen some nightmare stories with them?
It is an HP agreement in Scotland and I have already paid 8000 off the 9100 balance.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Jim

clear
unambiguous
and in writing
nothing else will do.0 -
dont deal with them over the phone, put a complaint in if necessary and they cant use adhoc responses.0

Thanks for the replies.
Sorry for seeming stupid, but who do i complain to and what am I complaining about?
Their head office merely sent on my letter to my branch despite advising them I would only deal with letter and not over the phone.
I'm really unsure if I should pay this 600 or not.
Thanks again

As I advise all customers with car, personal, or secured loans with welcome finance, you must challenge them and their legality. See my previous post. This company is about to go under for failure to comply with FSA regulations, their shares have been suspended from the market for most of this year and directors and employees are under investigation. As I have said before, the majority of welcome loans are not worth the paper they are printed on.0

She's telling lies, they can and do write letters ad hoc. Is it the branch or head office you're dealing with?0

I sent my offer recorded to the head office but they just passed it to branch despite me saying I didn't want to deal with my local branch as I find them totally useless.
I am wary of doing it her way but unsure how to proceed.
Thanks

Did you send your offer before or after you were told that by the branch?0 -
Hi,
Congratulation George,I have got a really good news for you.You are a very lucky guy because Cash one has recently lowered its rate of interests and has made the availability of loan even much much easier. So All i want to say is Merry Christmas and All the Best for your Loan.Just try to find more about it.
Thanks,
Suspiciously troll-like - reported.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

Well if the branch have said that after you sent the offer, re-send the offer to Compliance in Nottingham. Ignore the branch entirely.0
