Small claims court judgement problem

Well here is the saga,

I gave a co-worker an unwanted sofa for free. I then changed role and moved buildings. 5 months later i have just received a letter informing me that my former colleague has placed issue a small claims court saying that the sofa was given as part of a debt and i owe them money (i can prove that is not the case). Here is the problems;
The letter was sent and gives my home address as being my place of work which is a GOVERNMENT OFFICE, I am mortified, the letters are not instantly identifiable, but i do not even know how to approach my boss with this news, as result I now have to work out if i can appeal the case if it is possible (on the grounds that i was not informed/not guilty), as i was not informed in the first place, it is not true, but moreover this seems to have a malicious element, as i have not moved and i have never received a text/call/letter/email about this. I am horrified.
Any advice, I am reasonably happy that i will be able to prove that the sofa was a gift and not part of a debt, and that i have no debt to this person (interestingly the co worker has placed her partner as the person i owe the debt too). But any sensible advice about the address issue and work, would this be gross misconduct (could i lose my job?) as the judgment is attached to my place of work. Any other advice gratefully received.

Shocked 14:eek:
