Cake Disaster

Options
I made 2 yogurt cakes earlier -a 2lb and 1lb. Both got stuck to the sides of the (very) well greased tin and now lie in a massacared mess in my kitchen. They are beyond repair - even humpty dumpty couldn't put these 2 together again :rotfl:

So, asides trife, what can I do with them? I dont want to waste them because they actually taste really good.

er my first reaction would be to cover them in custard and scoff them. trifle also sounds good........ er, don't really know - not being really much help, sorry. i tend to just use the custard route when i have "cake crack spillage" as mr Rage calls it (rushing to the freezer for ice cream as he shouts it a la stan from dinnerladies....)
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

I was going to suggest the same as Rage in Eden.

To be honest when that happens in our house, we just stand in the kitchen picking at the bits until we've eaten it. Everyone loves that as they don't have to have just a slice, they can just tuck in to their heart's content.

Well thats my preffered option, but the diet doesnt agree. Think it will be cake and custard all round! (for those reading this from lose weight 6 thread - not me eating it, honest! )

    Truffles.
crumb the cakes with some cocoa powder, icing sugar, melted butter, some orange squosh and either a little alcohol or rum essence. you should end up with a bowl of chocolate coloured, sweet tasting, beautiful smelling firm but sticky stuff. Roll into large balls coat in vermicelli, coconut or doing small ones cocoa powder. Refridgerate YUM yum!

I don't know what you can do with the cakes but I do have a suggestions what you can do next time you make the cake to avoid the same problem.
My nan makes loads of cakes, after she greased the tin she takes dried breadcrumbs and sprinkle on the inside of the greased tin, and after that put the mixed ingreadiens inside.
It might be worth a try, her's always comes out easy from the tin.
Never done a youghurt cake my self so I don't know what they look like. But it works like a treat with chocolate cakes and sponge cakes etc

If you have no breadcrumbs ... use some flour to 'coat' the greased sides and bottom then shake out any excess ;)

Did you leave the cakes to 'cool' in their tins for a while before trying to take them out?

Failing trifle, truffles or scavenger-crumb-gobble, you could always reheat in a micro, with some added treacle and call it Treacle Sponge Pud a la Yogurt ;)

Could you make a kind of tiramisu?

Pour some strong coffee spiked with some kind of alcohol over the mushed up cakes.Top with whipped cream or mascarpone cheese.Sprinkle with grated chocolate.

    Sound good to me;)

It depends how badly massacred (sp?) they are...if there are any lumps of some size, then i suggest stick them together with a mixture (50:50) of soft cream cheese and double cream, cover with the same, put some fresh fruit (or frozen, or drizzle a tin of pie filling over) and behold, a summer pud of sorts...
...or perhaps some of the irregular bits could be cut into 1" cubes? Again, put a topping on..glace icing whatever, and you've got nice petit four type munchies...
    hope that helps...
