No he is not he used the word rise and therefore 64% did not want prices to rise so the majority do not want prices to rise.
The ICM poll found that 64% of people polled would prefer house prices to stay the same or decrease. Of those asked, 30% want them to decrease and 34% want them to stay the same. Only 32% of those interviewed say they want prices to go up.

Or equally you could say 66% of people want prices to rise or stay the same and only 30% of people wanted prices to fall....

You can present the 3 sets of data any way you like....

If the poll results are correct and 32% want prices to go up
34% want prices to stay the same and 30% want prices to fall.....

The poster though never said the majority want prices to fall. He said that only debt junkies want prices to rise. The majority do not want prices to rise that is clear from the poll. You cannot present these facts any other way.
  • A roof over your head is arguable one of the most important things required in life along with food and water.
I in no way compared it.

    Not a comparison?

Ok. If you have lost your way so badly, we'll drop it.

i don't think you've not understood the article that you posted correctly

in first place is those that want house prices to stay the same with 34%
in second place are those that want house prices to rise with 32%
and in last place are those that want house prices to remain the same with 30% - they are in the minority :money:

No I think I do 64% Ie 34% + 30% do not want prices to rise. That is pretty simple to understand. If poster suggested that more people want prices to fall than rise then your argument would stand up.

The thing wrong with the post is its highly unlikely that all of the people wanting prices to rise are debt junkies.

I see what you mean now.
I thought you were refering to my I can't afford luxuries post and making the point about how people need to cut their cloth accordingly.
It's easy to get confused when someone speaks about one of your posts without actually referring to them

It's true, food, water and shelter are fundamentally extremely important things in life, therefore why shouldn't they take up a significant proportion of an income.

You keep saying the things is.
Can you argue against that only 30% want prices to fall?
That leaves 70% thinking they want options other than price decreases ;)

Interesting percentage given that approx 30% of properties are not owner occupied and 70% are.

Christ almighty. Nobody has said the majority want prices to fall. Hamish keeps tell us 70% of people want prices to RISE. They do not the poll is clear. People can try and spin it all they like but what is clear is that the majority do not want then rise or fall.

Can you show me where I have said most people want prices to fall? The poll was posted to show that 70% of the population do not want prices rises as Hamish has keeps suggesting.

Its pretty clear that most of the poulation would not want prices to fall and to be honest you do not need a poll to show that.

    you're being pedantic now

the minority of people, which is only 30% of people want property to fall.

i don't care what Hamish said - take it up with him. it seems you're a tad obsessed with his 70% comment. but have a think what 100% minus 30% is - it may give you the 70% you are looking for.

It's clear that two thirds did not want houses prices to rise.

It's just being twisted around to suit purposes.
