Christmas Cake stand / board for smaller cakes

Hello
I have a question.... I have made Delias 7" square cake this Christmas and was thinking of cutting the cake in half to make 2 smaller cakes and maybe one of the halves in two, to make what would be 3 cakes to give as gifts.
My question is what to put the small cakes on after I have marzipaned them as the cake boards in the shops only come in one size. They seem too hard to break or cut so what have others done in this situation?
I would be extremely grateful for ideas as although I've searched the forums I've not found anything as yet.
Merry Christmas and thanks in advance for your help.

Hi inaminute,
I've cut cakeboards before using a stanley knife. Another alternative is to make your own from strong cardboard covered in tin foil. Individual Christmas cakes look lovely on a tiny cakeboard, covered in cellophane tied up with a bow.

Thanks pink for your ideas.
I had thought of covering card with tin foil but I read somewhere on one of the Christmas Cake threads that the foil reacts with the cake in someway ie holes appear in the foil from a chemical reaction so I was unsure as to whether this would be ok to do.
The other option is to cut the board like you suggested..... thanks for your help.

Hiya, you could buy some plastic Christmas plates to stand your cakes on. Then cover with cellophane. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
