how much are 'apps'?

I'm getting DH an Ipod Touch for Xmas (he's going to start commuting by train, so fancy getting his something which will help kill the time and give variety of things to do.)

Was wondering though how much things are to download that you can put on it - games/comedy etc. I've heard of Itunes, but can't seem to find out anywhere how much things are. do they vary depending on what it is - what is a general guide.

Thanks so much.

A fair bit of stuff you can get free, other things vary in price depending on seasonal/special offers.

I spent the last few weeks downloading free games to put on my sons ipod touch ready for xmas so i dont have the hassle of doing it xmas day.

You should see if they have something similar to the tube app for where you live- apparently the app tells you the best place to stand to get a seat or where the doors are or something at every station you go to. (Not got an iphone so can't comment on it too much!) seems like a good idea if he is travelling in the rush hour commute!
  • You will need to download I-tunes when you first plug the touch into the computer. This is all free of charge. Once done you can then look at the applications and there are loads and loads of free ones. Some are good, some are not so good. But the good thing is that these are changing all the time and you can delete and add new ones as and when you find them. I love my I-Pod Touch.

I have dozens of apps and they are all free. Games tend to be pretty cheap mostly ~$5-10 but there are lots of free ones too.
  • I had this question before I bought my son his ipod touch for his birthday in October, and found it impossible to get a good answer.
There are lots of free apps, whether completely free or a free sample version of a paid-for game/app. (even these light versions of games are very playable)
There are lots of games for 59p or 99p, and some of the more expensive games are around £5. It's not as expensive as you might think - I was concerned he'd pay about a fiver a time.
To get a good look, just download the Itunes software to your PC and have a look around at the apps store. Some are only suitable for the Iphone, I'm not sure if it will say, but just be aware.

    It's only a game

  • Most are free, some are 59p or 99p, a few go upto about £3, there are a couple around the £10-20 mark, and then of course there's the infamous "I Am Rich" one... :naughty:

Thanks all - have bought the ipod touch today (managed to get a £25 itunes voucher chucked in:).

Just need to wait for OH to go out on his Xmas do now, so I can have a play around and load a few things on (only in the interests of research of course!!!)
