Can't access a folder

Anyone got any ideas.

I try to access a folder and get a permission denied error.

The folder isn't corrupt, I've tried deleting it via command line. It seems like the folder has no permissions. I'm logged in as an admin with full rights, but can't take control of the folder, it justs says I don't have permissions.

Any takers? Otherwise I'll have to hook out one of the Linux distro's we have and remove it via that.

No, Windows retains any folder permissions during Safe Mode. Still can't take control of it.

Is simple file sharing turned off? Then you can access Security tab on folder properties.

Yep, I'm trying to take control of the folder via the security tab but it won't let me.

Both. I access it from my machine via the network. I've logged in on the local machine though, as an admin.

No didn't work. I've gone into Computer Management on the local machine and made sure nothing is accessing the file. It's not corrupt either, and doesn't have a sharing violation.

The network admins here say it's something to do with the permissions. There aren't any, and we don't have permission to take control of the folder (even as a full rights admin). So as we don't have rights to it, we can't access/modify/delete it.

The only way to remove it as far as I can see at the moment, is to use something like Linux where Windows permissions don't apply, and delete it.

Can you access permissions on the folder above it and replace permission entries on child objects? (It's on the Advanced button on Security tab).

Good idea, sadly no luck. Just seems to ignore the folder. I still get the permission denied message.

Gonna give it a google then if I can't find anything use one of the prep'd live distro's we have lying around.
