Times subscription £2.50 students ?

Got a letter ages ago asking if i wanted to have the offfer of £2.50 week as a student for Timer Newspaper ( cant find it now) it was a follow up to the now finished student vouchers.
When i have put my details in it asks for a university e-mail , ive put my own e-mail and it is not accepted.
Do you have to have a special e-mail at uni to be accepted and how do you get one of these.
Has anyone else tried to get this Times sub and been accepted ?

My daughter, who is at Cambridge Uni, took this subscription out in October and the deal was £30 for 12 weeks for 7 days a week which was pretty good. However, she has just got the renewal which asks for £74 for 12 weeks! If you go to the Times website it allows you to plug in the details and then says offer expired. Needless to say she will not be a Times reader from now on!

She rang Times Subscriptions and apparently the £30 for 12 weeks is just a come on, and after that it goes to £72 for 12 weeks. Needless to say she is not going to pay a pound a day so did not bother to renew!

Most university emails end in 'ac.uk' which is how they verify you're a student and that's probably why they won't accept a personal email.
