when pay has gone down to half due to being medically unfit for work,
can you claim ssp or anything else to make up for shortfall?

If you have used up all your SSP you can claim Incapacity Benefit.0 -
obviously ask your HR ( personnel ) dept... / see your contract
If a firm is paying 1/2 pay for extended sickness this is greater than basic ssp, and usually includes the ssp elementAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
IIRC SSP lasts for 28 weeks, after that any pay you're getting from work is just Employers Sick Pay, so you would then be able to claim Inacapacity Benefit.

Your SSP will be included in whatever you're getting via your employer. If you look at your next sick note from your GP it says what to do about applying for benefit, I think.Signature removed for peace of mind0
