Hi all
Just wondering has anyone any ideas. Have an interview soon for a Learning Disability Nurse post with trust. Just wondering has anyone any ideas. I have been working in supported living so bit out of touch.
Was thinking question on experience, complaints, scenario on challenging behaviour not sure what else to look at.
Thanks

Would not really read nursing times but its not that relevant in learning disability field. Have looked at Bamford report etc. I did a band 6 interview for supported living so just hoping it can not be as hard as that. It was hard but could answer questions so some degree0

What grade are you going for?
Sorry, just read, you said band 5.
I really wouldn't worry too much about buzz words, values are far more important and your experience will show through.
What kind of setting is it?0 -

Hi,
I work in the NHS and I think all interviews are now competency based so the questions will reflect the job description and person specification. If you look at the person specification it will have essential and desirable. I would think that to be shortlisted you will have gone a long way to meet the essential. Look at the person spec and see what it says at the side. A means demonstrate on application and I means demonstrate at interview.
Basic advice: read the job description and try to really understand exactly what the job is, ring or visit the named person as they will give you a fuller understanding of what they are looking for. Speak to someone who does the job now. Check their website for their business plan, mission statement etc. Think about what you may be asked and rehearse the answers. Listen to the questions and try to think why they are asking you the question (think back to the competencies for the job). Be precise and concise, try to answer as if you were giving bullets points in a presentation. Demonstrate that you know about the wider agenda and their organisation. If you don't understand the question don't be afraid to ask them to clarify (this is a valuable skill). Take time out if you need to for thinking time by saying something like 'thats a really interesting question that I just need to think about for a moment'.
Preparation is everything (as long as you have everything required of course).
Good luck.GC Jan £318/£350, Feb £221.84/£300, Mar £200.00/£250 Apr £201.05/£200 May £199.61/£200 June £17.25/£200

When is the interview? If there is a contact number make an appointment to go meet with them & find out more about the post. It's something that most people never do & it does go a long way to show how interested you are in a post. When I interview for band 5 posts (I interview for adult nurses) I usually give them an senario relating to practice, find out about their careers, strengths & weaknesses, why do they want to work on my ward, what do they know about trust & what is going on in the nhs.Total debt £13318  paid £5660 Left to pay £7658 57%
