Mixing paints?

I mix paint all the time, Im not even bound by silk/matt types I jusp slop it all together and see what happens. At out recycling/tip place they used to have a skip full of paint/woodstain etc that people had dumped and it was free...FREE to take!! I have loads which I mix to make all sorts of concoctions. I would say that you usually need more colour than you think to turn white into something colourful.
Those paint dyes were great Lily-Lu, stronger colours than mixing with other paint. Im sure they must be sold somewhere, I'd start by looking on ebay!!
We too always keep a spare pot of the paint in a coffee jar for touch ups, this has been the best thing ever because of the kids fingermarks and 'naughty pen' which is what we call scribbles on the wall; also saves having to completely redecorate if you move house!!!''A moment's thinking is an hour in words.'' -Thomas Hood0 -
Just make sure you mix enough for your room as you'll never get the same shade twice!0

I have mixed paint in the past, just kept matt with matt ect.
You know you are getting old, when you own a stick, whose whole purpose in life, is to stir paint:rotfl:

I needed to paint one wall in my flatmate/lodger's room due to a bit of a problem with damp. Being unemployed at the time, I didn't want to go out and spend a fortune on paint, so picked the emptiest tin in the garage and poured the others in. White, cream and a couple of deep reddish brown colour tester pots.
I was a bit nervous, but when he got in, he hugged me and said he'd always wanted a terracotta colour in his room, loved the warm mediterrean feel.... Result, saved some pennies. Just stir well, and remember to keep a jam jar of it for top ups.
Good luck x.Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Zippy I picked up the darkest, most horrible shade of green from a pot on the Wilko's bargain bucket type thing and chucked it in... I was going for a very dark shade but it came up all lovely and pastlelly and I slopped it on and loved it.
Its all trial and error in this house as if its horrible I'll paint over in a matter of weeks (may be why it took 3 years to finish!) But I do love the bathroom!
I'll stick a pick up on my avatar tomorrow to as show you but it was ohh so easy!
Good luck anyway, and enjoy the painting , I love it!!
