i must say i've been okay with the boarders reductions and brought several education books since they had 50% off making them a good buy. Although the 20% off is quite a standard sale rate across the store i can see why they are trying to keep to that to recoperate what little they can.A big thank you to all those who post on the forum and make it a worthwhile place!!!:j0

They're not really 'ripping off' the consumer now are they - the RRP is £26, so that's what they want to offer it for. If you want to buy it for cheaper, you are more then welcome to go elsewhere - I fail to see how this is ripping anyone off - it's all very clear what their price is and that they are giving 20% off their price. it's the same as everything else - why people go shop at Tesco when the same item is cheaper at Aldi? Why go to Sainsbury's when you can get the same thing for less at Asda? For lots of different reasons. You just sound a little annoyed that your family made a mistake - it's not the shops fault, they clearly tell you the price, you decide to accept that price or not, not their fault. We've all done it and brought something then seen it cheaper elsewhere - no need to have a go at the shop for one's own mistake.
And them not giving refunds is because, by law, they are not allowed to now they are in administration, it's illegal for them to.
I was not venting anger at "my familys mistake", just warning people of the high prices, the fact that there returns policy had changed and the fact that as soon as they went into administration they stopped selling items at there "own price" and started selling everything at rrp. Then to make people think that they are getting a bargain they then add a % off discount but the price is still sold at a higher price than it was before the sale started. This is because the administrators main role is to make as much money as they can before they close the business in order to pay of the debt (ie taxman). As far as the the refund goes, I should have explained this more clearly. She asked the assistant for the correct book, he gave her the wrong one, therfore under sales of goods act, a refund is allowed as the item was miss sold by the administrators, after pointing this out to them, they still wanted to argue and we didn't have time or energy to argue further so accepted exchange.if i had known then what i know now0 -
I was about to pop in to my nearest borders tommorow but after hearing this and being a little sceptical about the actual prices i'll probably keep buying my books on amazon.0
