Debt being transferred from DCA back to lender?

Hi, I have an Amex debt which went to a Debt Collection agency (RMA)- but these morons are useless and not helpfull. I have £4500 outstanding balance that i owe and i can clear this with 24 months @ £188.00 per month however RMA are saying i need to clear this within 3 months or they'll take me too court!! I can only afford this amount as i also have other debts and am paying RMA the most..i struggle each month as it is just to put petrol in my car to get to work!! I'm getting really stressed out about RMA as they are putting on alot of pressure on me. I noticed on a thread on this website that recommended i contact AMEX to see if they will accept my repayment plan and pay them back directly rather than RMA. Has anyone successfull managed to transfer their debt from a DCA back to the orginal lender. I also have not received anything in writing that AMEX have sold the debt to RMA so not sure who owns my debt, Amex or RMA? Any help would be appreciated!!
