I have often wondered about the washing machines as wel , ok maybe the ones who live in small flats would use laundrette but everyone seems to use it

And LIR ..your cats... (has to have an eeeek emoticon!) I am going to claim my £5 and say you could be Liz Jones afterall.....the nice bits of her personaliity of course..not all the other neurotic stuff.
LOL, they are good cats, they are quite spoiled, but they have taught me a lot about positve reinforcment training, they deserve some slack. They certianly are the most spoiled members of the fmily though....I haven't shared tell the REALLY ridiculous stuff they get up to/spoiled with.
Pobby, our cats do very, very occasionally make the cat word for ''bird'' at the tv which is hard to type but a bit like AtchaAtchaAtchaAtcha. Interestingly ours say a similar word more quitely for flying insects.
Totally agree FC about feeling ''walford'' is really not like one of the EC locations you refer too, bt somewhere else..not sure where though..don't know Dagenham at all...but seen some places in further out in Sarf London which have more of the feel, but different architecture.0 -

After 6 months down here you may become one.:o0 -
I am sure someone referred to there still being a clothing factory in Coronation St recently? I am going to have to watch a catch up to see if it's a real life looky likey. Anyone know a good episode?
I have been away at an event North of London this weekend and I had forgotton how different people are too (not meant in any snide way...just acknowledging the differences) .
I am very polite (as I am a good MSE'er and am in tune with different perceptions of value etc) when someone passes out at the price of a dress...reduced to clear from £65 to £15 and they say 'OMG , It's £15.'
It;'s been a strange weekend TBH. Something new that we hadn't had the time to do before.0 -

In SATC Carrie had a rent controlled apartment - still not sure how she could afford all the shoes though

Well the Postie offered to pay the rent for his son' s fiance on the back of the profit he hoped to make from the Ian Beale deal, when Archie warned Beale off Postie had to work extra night taxi shifts and fell asleep and had an accident whilst driving Max's ex (bradley's mum) who Max had just touched up for 10k supposedly for Bradley but actually to bail out Max - his business as an insurance salesman is down the tubes as he can not compete with internet rates (topical anyone?) and the last straw was when he pocketed the premiums for the Vic rather than passing them on and then Archie trashed the Vic in a failed attempt to burn it down leading to a 10k claim which, given that the Mitchells' are seriously screwed due to Sam jumping 250k bail Phil was not willing to let pass.
Don't you like full-stops?;)In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:0 -
I gave up watching EE in the 80s when they built Canary Wharf. Everyone I met from the East End had an opinion on Canary Wharf yet it never got mentioned on the show.
Agree with fc, its nothing like places like Hackney, seems more like somewhere further out, like Dagenham, but EssexEnders doesn't have the same ring. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I am out of the loop as haven't watched EE for many years but I do recall Ian Beales parents (Kaff and and a thickset bloke) living in a tower block council place....but never showed the outside.
I am unaware how the clothes stalls look now but they are nothing like real stalls at all.
Is there more of a cultural mix in EE now? Previously, I wouldn't have said it represented many E End inner suburbs that I am familiar with...Walford always felt more like Dagenham or a bit further out in Essex. Walford came from merging the names Ilford with Wanstead???

PN...I will do you a tour if you like?..we can go meet some wholesalers, shopkeepers and residents in E London....it's nothing like the telly programme at all. We can do the Ripper tour of Whitechapel and Brick Lane afterwards.:o Or just go for a Biryani and a beer.
It came from Walthamstow and Chingford and is meant to be set in between the two places....well that was what one of the books which accompanied the show said in the 80's!
Yep, I was a sad teenager who liked Eastenders and bought all the books.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
