Credit Ref AGENCIES

After several weeks of to-and-fro communications with both agencies I have at last got my credit files with Equifax and Experian in an accurate and up-to-date status.
It is worrynig that these people hold our credit worthiness and yet give every indication of incompetence !!!

I am now about to go through the same performance (probably) with CallCredit, but before I do I wondered if anyone knows how much they are used in relation to the other two agencies, and whether I should bother.

Thanks.

    Hi

It is worth getting your Callcredit report (the statutory postal report that is) just to check that it is accurate.

The vast majority of lenders do not use Callcredit for credit scoring. However this may change in the future because they are currently amassing huge amounts of detailed account data - all my credit accounts are now reporting to them. I suspect once they have a few more years data under their belt they'll be genuine competitors to the big two and lenders will start to use them for credit scoring.

I tend to get the £2 statutory report every 6-8 months.

    Regards

    Hi

Whilst I agree that it is not worth joining a subscription service with Callcredit, I believe the OP was talking about obtaining their statutory credit report.

  • I thought that if you had to amend your file, then they have an obligation to share the amendments with other agencies - otherwise the'd all be holding a different set of information on you
  • They do all share information.
I work for the largest B.Society and we report all arrears to call credit as well as Experian and Equifax.
They may not be used for credit scoring though as stated above. I dont deal with the lending side so I am not sure if they are used for that method.
