Gluten free/ dairy free

Hi people

Does anyone have or know of a good receipe book for people with gluten and dairy intolerances? Have looked on Amazon but not all books have reviews so it is hard to decide. Something simple would be great.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post

  • I've just got a really good one out of the library called Allergy-free Cookbook by alice Sherwood, ISBN 978-1-4053-1260-8. It gives really clear & easy to follow recipes for sorts of every day food and gives no eggs, no dairy, no gluten and no nuts versions of each recipe. I find it much better than Phil Vickery's recent gluten free book that he has recently published.

  • Hi, I have to avoid gluten and sugar, and did buy one of those fancy cookbooks. However, I have never cooked from them! I tend to google recipes online for something I want to cook, there is so much information out there on this that it's quicker to find them online.

Try using your online resource first, and if you find it is not giving you enough, then maybe buy a book?

It's for a christmas present for my sister's boyfriend so I would prefer a book - but thank you for your suggestions :)

If you want a cake book, "Red Velvet and Chocolate Heartache" by Harry Eastwood is fab and beautiful to look at. I rarely post so can't post links yet, but it's at Amazon for around £12. It's also in the WH Smith sale if you'd prefer to see it in person first.

I can't have dairy myself and from memory, there was only one recipe (apart from the buttercream icings which could be easily substituted) which had any dairy in it. Pretty sure they were gluten free as well (most of the recipes called for ground almonds and rice flour, not wheat) but this wasn't something I was taking as much notice of.

    Hope that helps. :)

ahhh sorry, yes, a book would be much nicer than a note saying "look it up yourself!" :D
