32" HD Ready TFT (HDMI, PC DSub etc)

Bought one of these the other day

http://www.microdirect.co.uk/ProductInfo.aspx?ProductID=14061&GroupID=0

Hyundai 32" TFT TV

It's fully HD ready with an HDMI port along with PC Video, 2 lots of component iput, 2 scarts etc. It also comes with a TWO year collect and return warranty!

I have to say I am VERY impressed I bought the Samsung DVD-HD860 from Richersounds to go with it (chopped in my old Cambridge Audio for £75 so only had to pay £25 for it hehehehe) and theyre both excellent.

I am typing this using it as a monitor whilst watching the football using Picture in Picture. Max resolution is 1366 x 768

The panel is a class act in pure black and a thin bezel so the screen looks much larger than it is.

I only have "normal" Sky so cant comment on using SkyHD (yet!) but its amazing for everything else the football looks great, movies are excellent.

I heartily recommend this TV especially for the fantastic price of

£599.24 INC VAT

(makes about £616 including next day delivery too)

Not bad when you consider the Marantz version of this screen is EXACTLY the same panel just with the Marantz badge on it instead and sells for well over £1000

They also have the Mirai ones cheaper too

I saw these at CTS at the NEC in May on the VIP stand and they look absolutely lovely too (although I prefer the look of the Hyundai panel)

Yeah the only difference with the novatech one is the DVB tuner in it which I dont need as 1 I live in the city centre so theres no real quality signal for freeview and 2 I use Sky

Also because of the DVB tuner the price is significantly higher (still cheaper to buy a freeview box) and certainly more than 3% more expensive so even using quidco its more expensive.

Certainly this version is worth a punt if you already have freeview or sky and dont need the tuner built in.

    Thanks for the replies :)

oic lol I get it slightly cheaper than that anyway via my trade account thru them but not bad for others :)
  • Not too sure if it's cheaper without the Digital TV (IDTV) as my one costed £615 delivered from Novatech included IDTV. It was sold as a Novatech TV but actually it's a Hyundai (TV mark, manual, remote etc all same as Hyundai model and marked as such)

If anyone wants the DTV version at the same price or cheaper its here:

I also bought the Q321 - Novatech version:

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-Q321

Almost identical price (possibly cheaper depending on delivery options), but includes DVB-T (tv bit of Freeview), and a serial port for doing firmware upgrades. (Though loses the HDMI in favour of a DVI so need HDMI -> DVI + Audio cable). Novatech have sold shed loads of them AND their customer service is first class! Each TV appears to have been unpacked, upgraded (to latest firmware) and tested for obvious pixel faults. They are even getting a Hyundai techie to visit the UK to tweak the firmware based on customer comments - you can't get better than that.

There's a *huge* thread on AV forums about it:

    http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=293464

kpkpkp on that thread is the Purchasing Manager at Novatech I believe, and as you can see has been on it day and night helping out customers.

The TV isn't perfect but IMHO is the best/most featured of the sub £1000 32" LCD TVs I've seen at the moment.

    HTH - Rufus.
  • I've been on that forum on and off and have seen that kpkpkp has been giving support to anyone who had problems (and out of the many, there were very very few problems).

I really can't fault this tv or novatech at all.

I think the TV is fantastic I went for the A321 as we have Sky and no Freeview reception here (too close to city centre) also I wanted the HDMI connector rather than DVI. I also avoided it as its not a freeview decoder its a DVB-T so none of the red button stuff works on it and the EPG isnt great but each to their own :)

The panel used is the same one that the Sony Bravia's use and the Samsungs although some of the electronics are obviously not the same. Apparently the panel used on the A321s is a slightly newer version hence the slightly higher contrast ratios on that model.

I got the Samsung DVD-HD860 to go with it (including part ex'ing my Cambridge Audio DVD53 in) I paid £24.99 for it :D and the 2 work beautifully together I tried out Armageddon on it and you can make out details you never saw before truly brilliant and over HDMI breathtaking!!

You really cant go wrong with this TV (or the Q321) bearing in mind the IDENTICAL Marantz version (just the badge is different) costs around £1300 its a real bargain and almost everywhere is selling them now too :)
