Natural deodorants

I've just recenty decided to use only natural products for hair, body and toiletries. So I tried out Holland & Barratt own deodorant Dr.Organic. First version was the aloe vera one but I don't think it cover the body odour for the whole day. In fact I sweated more even in these cold weather!
So I swithed to lavender version one but same result. It made me mor self conscious.
After I brought from the same shop Dessert Essence Tea tree deodorant which was way much better but when I looked at the ingredients it does contain alcohol.
I want to find if possible 100% natural deodorant which is very effective in masking the body odour. I guess you will sweat more when using natural deodorant, right?
And does anyone know natural skin products which are 100% natural which are effective for oily/combination skin?
I've have tried Liz Earle products but I found my face still look shiny after using the hot&clean/toner/light cream. And I look at the Dr. Haush products but they aren't 100% natural neither and very pricy!!
Thanks in advance!

Coconut oil is pretty good but not perfect.
You can get crystal deodrant which works but again not perfect.

A lot of natural deodorants just mask the smell. Try Pitrok or other crystal deodorants, which are quite effective at stopping the smell. You will sweat though and if you are used to using antiperspirant, it can be a bit of a shock.

I also recommend a crystal deodorant. If it gets hot, you will sweat, but you won't stink. And your skin won't be sticky with commercial antiperspirant gunk!

My parents swear by pitrok, and I also found this to be quite effective (the spray not the roll on, and I found I had to apply as soon as dry from the shower) until I became pregnant with DD. Now I have to blame it on hormones (or admit I'm stinky) but I cannot find an effective natural deodorant for me. I have had to go back to using yukky chemicals and I am not happy doing that, so sometimes I just leave out the deo (which seems no worse than using my natural stuff) so I'm at a loss and will be watching this thread closely. A compromise I found was to have a 'baby wipe bath' half way through the day, then reapply and this worked quite well, hmmmm will have to go back to this method I think! :)

Hope you find something that works well for you. I think it's tough as you get so used to anti-p. When I 'went natural' this was the only challenge I found, all the other products were IMO nicer than their chemically counterparts.

I tried pitrok. I do alot of gym work so didn't really see it helping me at all tbh, I also felt wary that I did smell badly when I wore this! Made me run straight back to the bionsen (alum free deoderant) which again doesn't stop you sweating but at least you smell OK when you do! (infact no deoderant I have tried stops sweating, most just reduce, some do nothing at all.)

I've tried a few natural ones like pitrock and tom maine they have never worked totally for me, always go back to artificial as i couldn't stand the thought of being icky, wish i could find one that suits though but they are too costly to keep buying and deciding that they don't work

I agree they are too much money to keep testing out. I have tried most of them though, except the really pricey ones (ie £12 +) and they have all been of a similiar quality. I think the main thing is being so used to anti-p that having sweat patches is a concern for me on a hot day (or stressful day! :) ) I also found that wearing no deodorant at all was not much worse so decided that I really was wasting my money. I try to go without when it doesn't matter ie if I'm staying in or just going to my mums for the day etc, but I do carry a small spray round with me in case of emergency. On days when I am going out somewhere or I am going out in the evening etc I put on 'proper' deo.

Watching thread closely as I too want to find a decent natural deo.
  • Another vote for pitrok here (I use the solid crystal type of deodorant anyway - pitrok is a brandname, but they are all the same - I think the one I am using now is called 'salt of the earth')- these do not stop you from sweating, which is good really as sweating serves a biological function, but it does stop the sweat from being smelly.

However, you need to apply it as soon as you get out fo the shower onto very clean damp skin - I apply it before I do anything else! It will only prevent odours, not mask them!

Trouble is even the anti persprent don't stop me from sweating all the time. Its embarrassing when you have a shirt on with a wet patch under your arm pits!
