Transfer of Equity process?

Could anyone help with this one - I keep asking my solicitor but they never answer this point. Does anyone have any idea roughly how long it takes to effect a Transfer of Equity on a property - it's from my sole name to me and my partner so that we can take out a joint remortgage.

Thanks very much

It should take a lender a couple of weeks to agree a straight forward case and then a couple more weeks for the solicitor to do the legal work.
  • In fact, we took it straight to our own solicitor, approved by the building society, to save time as we'd been warned that if the lender uses their solicitors it's a much slower 'cos they don't pay them terribly well... so hopefully, we may have cut the process to a couple of weeks...
