Curtain advice - I need a 'mum'
Comments

I always go for one and a half width and are quite happy - my mum always goes for twice the width (but thats more expensive!) :-)0

Twice the width for me too. I have just had Dulelm make me a velvet curtain for the hall, we have a glass dorr with a glass side panel, cost me £63 for a thermal lined curtain and tie back.
I bought curtains from Dunelm for our sitting room, the window is 10 foot wide, they could be a bit fuller but although they were lined I also bought loose thermal linings to hang in for the winter, makes a great difference to the amount of heat lost through the glass. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Thanks again for your replies.
I've found a pair in plum from Wilkos that will save me oodles for the bedroom. Anyone got any experience of Wilko curtains?0 -
One and a half width of the window if you don't want them 'too full' double the width if you do. Get longer than the window sill - good 4-6 inches IMO, because they may shrink when you wash themTo love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0
