Consider this, tax on our salaries? tax on what we buy? or sell? tax on mortgages? VAT, PAYE, council tax, there are probably loads of tax that I have left out, but this to mention a few, where does all our tax go exactly? and on what? can anyone answer this?

huge amount of data on the internet
government statistical service (which of course is paid for by your taxes) publishes the data on a regular basis
try googling 'uk government spending'
or for a one page summary try

Are you serious?
You don't pay tax on mortgages.
It pays for schools and teachers, hospitals, doctors and nurses, social benefits including tax credits and childcare. It pays for MPs and civil servants, Councils, councillors and council staff. Road sweeping and social services, roads and (some) rail services. Regulation and legislation. Tourist boards and energy supply. Agriculture and housing (social and private issues such as building regs and planning).
and much much much much more.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -

Same thing, no?
Any country worth living in taxes its citizens.0 -
Don't forget the borrowing that is out of control pending the next general election.
I thought we had paid off our mortgage and the government is busy borrowing a similar amount per family to put me right back where I started from.
I wonder which day of 2010 will be tax freedom day when borrowing is taken into consideration?0 -

Our taxes used to go on this, but gas/electricity distribution, generation and supply was all privatised a few years ago. So the bit of our taxes which used to go towards energy supply now buys floating duck islands and moat cleaning services and bails out bust banks instead ...0 -
Bailing out banks to the tune of £40k per person of course.0

alot of it goes on worthwhile spending and alot of it is wasted."enough is a feast"...old Buddist proverb0

Hehe .. to be honest .. Good question.
I'm sure we're never going to know where all of it goes.. it would line a few individuals' pockets in various ways, I'm sure.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE Forum Team0
