canon compatibles for IP4200

Hi, the latest canon printers have a chip on them and no compatibles have
been created.I have noticed that on ebay some German sellers are advertising
cartridges for the IP4200 at about £2.00.The only snag is that you have to take
the chip off the old cartridge and put it on the new.Has anybody tried this and
does it work ?

To be honest it doesnt work.
It is great that they are providing a reasonably mess free way to use the printers without having to buy new Canon carts BUT I haven't found a single seller who has pointed out the potential warranty issues because no matter what you do the chip will stay "empty" and result in a "Do you want to continue and kiss your warranty goodbye" message that marks the end users printer.
Its exactly the same as refilling the cartridge yourself.
