Rain Rain Rain .......... and just winter in general really gets me down!
Can anyone recommend a SAD lightbox as I think it's about time I bought one but there are so many companies out there to choose from.
Many thanks!

We've just replaced our old one with a LitePod from https://www.sad.co.uk/
It suits us better because it's half the size of our old one but we have to be in front of it for a bit longer to get the full effect.
Which one is best for you depends on your life - if you're someone who has to dash out of the house in a hurry in the morning, you'll need the brightest you can get; if you have time to sit in front of it for longer, a smaller one will do. Other than that, I don't think there's a lot of difference. Choose one that you like the look of.0 -

Mojisola and vandanfc
Thank you both for your suggestions - I will definately look to getting a 10,000lux type.

light boxes don't help me, but vitamin D taken from September onwards does.
I'd think about that before shelling out £60 or more on a light box.
DH uses a light box, but is currently using an ordinary lamp with a biobulb in it, as it's easier than sitting in front of his light bulb. Works out cheap too, about £12 for the bulb.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Do you reckon it's too late to start on the vitamin D now? My SAD is really bad this winter, as this is the first one I've faced in a while without a holiday to look forward to at the end of it, which has always helped keep my spirits up in the past.Life is a waste of time.

We use vitamin d too - it's very cheap and we feel better for it. To get high enough levels you need to buy from the USA and you must use D3 not D2. This is a good site to start learning from - https://www.vitamindcouncil.org/vitaminDPharmacology.shtml
We buy from https://www.iherb.com/ as they're good and cheap. If you buy from the States, you need to keep the total cost of your order below £18 or you will get charged import duty and a collection fee.0 -
I don't see what harm it would do starting them halfway through....
we buy from iherb too now, because of the capsule size, then ones we bought are tiny, much easier to swallow, and not too dear either.
Yes, it was a Ted Hutchison recommendation, bought them a year ago and have enough left for this year - they aren't close to their use by date yet.:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Which one did you buy?
TIALife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

just noticed this, hadn't seen it at the time as I was recovering from an op.
We got more vitamin D from the States when we were over at Christmas, was searching vitamin D on here to try to remember the last ones we bought from iherb as we're running a bit low (planning ahead, need to start taking them in just a few weeks...
This time I have ordered the 5000ui ones, the ones we got before were 2000ui, iirc, but ended up taking 2 or 3 a day, so it makes sense to get a higher dose and just take one. The softgels are really easy to swallow, much nicer than the horse sized tablets I ended up with when I bought them in the UK.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Just be aware that there is a reason we have limits on the amount of vit.D you can buy here in the UK, there is such a thing as vitamin D overdose and it might be an idea to check with your GP first before taking.

I'd also suggest you mention the SAD to your doctor too as it could be other things. Just a little suprized you have SAD now as its still quite bright outside- obviously there are many different types of SAD and I only have been aware of the one which occurs regarding light and the legnth of days (I have friends with SAD), so maybe there is some scope for better treatment from your GP, its got to be worth asking anyway- and to check out the pills your thinking of taking, at least then they have it on file and may be able to help if you do get any side effects.0
