Car Breakdown Cover in NI

Hi
Can anyone recommend a good car breakdown insurance provided that actually works well in Northern Ireland and also covers the Republic as well. Don't need homestart just recovery to home or garage.
Thanks

sign up for quidco and do either rac or aa, you can get years fix at roadside for about £8 after quidco cashback (usual palava about cashback not guaranteed blah blah blah - I've done both rac and aa cashbacks no problem)

  • I switch them every year via Quidco, had them both out once. AA took 2 hours and it was just some guy in a car from a garage. The RAC took 15 mins and the guy was great

Have you checked your car insurance doesn't already provide breakdown recovery? I get it through open and direct.
  • RAC doesn't cover RoI, or certainly didn't last time I asked. AA do though. And I've found their service to be really good.

Soory but RAC do cover South. My oh broke down last year in South and I rang RAC. The guy I spoke to said we were not covered for South. I asked to speak with Supervisor and he told me I would just be told the same via supervisor as he (the guy) had been working there along time and knew everything. I still insisted in speaking with S/visor and eventually guy came back and said sorry I have been working here 8 years and didn't know people who live in Northern Ireland are covered for South but those in England are not unless they have European cover!

Interesting, I've phoned for a quote a few times and also asked at a stand in a shopping centre and every time they've said they don't cover RoI. To be honest I wouldn't fancy arguing the toss beside a broken down car in the wilds of donegal :) so I think I'll stick with AA. But would be great if RAC would revise their info properly on this one.
  • Have you tried Green Flag? Thay don't have their own vans but use the locals and pay them direct, so nothing to fork out. I have been with them over 10 years and always found them brill !!! Peter.

RAC definitely cover ROI for NI residents however they will not sell cover to ROI residents -

    Standard Cover
    – Residents of Northern Ireland are entitled to be recovered from the Republic of Ireland
