On 21st August this year, the way postage is priced will change.
The new system will use both size and weight to calculate the cost of postage. To help us understand the implications we can visit https://www.royalmail.com/change to find out more and see the prices that will come into effect. We can also order a FREE size guide which will help determine the new cost.

If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Not looking forward to the effect it will have on my book sale profit from Amazon. 84p the cheapest to send a book:("A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining, but wants it back the minute it begins to rain." Mark Twain0

I have just ordered 1 of these too.
I don't think I'm going to like the effect on our business either:beer: The £2 Coin Savers Club = 0 Date joined =14/6/05

I wonder if all this extra money we spend will mean we can get some service. Sending a large lightweight item has gone up as much as 3x!
Although if it means people are less wasting with packaging that has to be a good thing. Well a plus at least.0 -

Supposedly on average people will pay the same but the price paid is now more in proportion to how much it costs Royal Mail to deliver it.0 -

Don't get me started on Royal Mail....
Got in last night to find one of their lovely "Sorry, you were out" (p739) postcards on the mat. In the name and address field on it the postman had written "PACKET LEFT ON FRONT DOOR STEP". Nothing else on it at all. No reason why, no delivery person duty number, nothing.
And that was precisely what was on my front doorstep. NOTHING.
Just rang RM customer services to be informed that as sorry as she was, there was nothing they could do about it.
Anyone got any idea's? I'm thinking of informing the local rag of the poor service our posties are delivering.~Non Ex Transverso Sed Deorsum~0 -
RM must know who the postman was who was assigned to your route; if you give customer services a date and address then at the very least they can trace the individual postie and ask about it.
You could also try contacting PostWatch which is an independent organisation

CSR logged a complaint, which has been sent to the local delivery office. They will find out who left the package on my doorstep. But that 's all. I'm not due anything from them, Not even information.
Thanks for the link. Am following it up now.~Non Ex Transverso Sed Deorsum~0 -
I work for a company who distributes magazines and our business is being hit very hard the new pricing in proportion prices. RM basically have priced on deliverability as they say it costs less to deliver something that can be put through a front door. Unfortuately it looks as if all mail will cost more in the future as many other delivery agents such as TNT, DHL etc, base their prices around the RM pricing model and that there is no direct competition to RM delivery.0

Thanks for that info julie_d. I'm always sending parcels up to my stepsons in Scotland so this is going to cost more money. Great! I could understand an increase in pricing if Royal Mail were actually providing an efficient service but, well....we could be all day talking about this subject.
Anyway, at least they are prepared to send out for free, a guide to help us on our way. Just hope it gets delivered!!!0
