Hi everybody, Im travelling to australia on a year long working holiday i fly 2moro mornin, i rung up singapore airlines and asked for my baggage allowance to be increase so it is now 30kg. I was wondering if this 30kg had to all be in one suitcase or could i use 2 suitcases as long as its not over 30kg? what i really want to do is take 2 as all my things wont fit into 1, i have rung singapore but it says there office is closed. Please people help me Many thanks Jamie

The SA site regarding baggage limits

They have 2 ways of giving baggage limits weight and peice, weight in economy is 20KG max peice is 2 peices each peice can weigh 32KG so 64KG per person. which is a lot of luggage.

Another page they have here It states you get 32KG per peice indicating travel to Austraila is done by the peice method. Does it not say anything in your documents your travel agent gave you? tickets or somthing?
Ok I read further and they only say the peice method is used for the US and Canada. so you must be on the weight thing and you can only have 32KG in each bag but you do pay for any extra over your limit. You should be able to take 30KG in 1 bag, 15KG in 2 bags any combination.

It is really dificult to manouver 2 bags so if you can get everything in 1 bag do it, if not try to get bags that can be linked in to a train and pulled along. 30KG is alot of luggage to be taking with you, I have never taken that much but returning is diferent the number of times we have bought extra bags is stupid but we never get anywhere near to out limits.

the only trouble i had once was wen 2 of us went... they dont allow u to shre the weight... for eg... we had 1 really big suitcase n a tiny one so we did 40/20... but they sed we wasnt allowed to do that n each person had to declare their own suitcase even is this meant 1 person had 2 suitcases... (hope this is makin sense) i kknow this doesnt answer ure question... but just warnin u not to share the weight if ure travellin with some1 else
