I was under the impression that if you were told to bring a bottle then you should take something you like to drink yourself.....so if you don't drink then take something non-alcoholic you'll enjoy, perhaps some schloer or nice fruit juices.
  • as lisa says take what you want to drink as in BYOB, bring your own bottle. I don't drink so I always make sure I have something in the boot of the car that I personally like.

I certainly wouldn't go buying boxes of beer without knowing exactly which type the recipient would like, wine is slightly easier in that I would buy a lightish white or rose preferably when on 3 for £10.

    Hi Hob.

I've been following your other thread and I'm so pleased you've got some invites and are able to get out. You really deserve it!

My favourite cheap wine at the moment is Sainsburys Basics Rose at £2.53 bottle. If you didn't want to turn up with a basics range they have a Californian Rose at £3.20 (but the basics is just as nice!).

If you've got a few parties then as someone said the 3 for £10 is a good plan. You get posher wine with that for just a bit more.

At Asda I would recommend -

    Hardy's Cabernet Shiraz

    and

    Via Vecchio Pinot Grigio

if you can get them. Otherwise Hardys, Stowell, are quite good or just go for the most expensive.

Don't EVER buy anything by J. P. Chenet (even if it has got a wierd bottle) - it's horrible!

Hope you have a lot of fun.

The Oceans Edge NZ Sauvignon Blanc is normally £8.99 but is on 3 for a tenner at Tesco. That's a lovely wine at an amazing price. There's also a nice sparkling non alcoholic Elderflower drink at Sainsbury's that I picked up half price last week - nice chilled and served in a wine glass.

I hope you enjoy your parties. ;)
