    I'd think it's still worth it but tax might be an issue worth checking.The pension would be tax free in the UK covered by your personal allowance, but suggest you check its status at the Canadian end.

    Pity you missed out on the Class 2 Nics.:(

    Yes, it still looks like a good deal for the back years. If you were getting the standard offer the earlier years are a lot cheaper than the current ones and at least some of those seem like a really good deal since you'll eventually have to pay for years somehow if you don't return to the UK.

    Also as some of you have said, in Canada (where I now live) the UK pension is not index-linked. Apparently, expats are petitioning to have it changed, but who knows if that'll happen!
    From memory it's been being petitioned about for a very, very long time and given the state of HMG's finances I can't see it happening any time soon, but as you say - who knows! At least you have the benefit of being a long way from retirement and, of course, it's possible that by the time that comes you may be living somewhere where index linking does apply.
