Brown sugar and oil - any oil, olive, sunflower, whatever you have in the kitchen that has the least scent. Personally I would avoid specially buying almond oil because it turns rancid remarkably quickly.
Try different sugars, soft brown sugar is good and gentle. Mix a spoonful with enough oil to make a sloppy paste.
Use it in the shower, but remember. like all scrubs it will make your shower slippery.
If you find you like it, you can add a couple of drops of lavender essential oil, and put it in jars as Christmas presents!
Be careful with that one!
You see the grains of sugar are actually quite sharp- they are mini crystals, as oppose to softer things like oats or rice flour or even almonds (stuff that is rounded rather then jagged).
The reason you need to be so so careful is that you want to prevent giving your skin lots of micro tears as over time it will add to aging skin and not in a good way! Its OK on most your body- your body is a bit tougher and will in many cases outlast the scratching from the sugar. But on your face the skin is very fragile and much thinner and will be affected to a greater level.
There are also some parts of your body that sugar is a no-go area for. Genrally the thinner parts of skin such as your inner arms, chest/cleavage, wrists...etc0
