Cant just transfer a property, it would be seen as avoidance. Even if you transferred it to your Wife/ Husband there would need to be a 2 year 'cooling off period' to ensure that you are not transferring a Property to avoid it being taken.

Thought there must be something like that in place otherwise everyone would do it.

I thought there was a thing where it can be given as a gift to someone else though?

or, if a property had a small mortgage, and someone else took that over and then the house into their name, would that work?

Hi, I've been told by my solicitor that we could transfer my share to my wife to avoid a CO but the mortgage co would probably not allow it.
