i've just been reading a thread about foraging-natures way. in it there is a recipe for elderflower cordial which i would love to try. when you have made it it goes into glass bottles.
as it isn't going to cost much money I wondered if anybody knows where to get cheap screw-top glass bottles please.
thanks

I think Wilkos sells this kind of stuff in their wine and beer making section.

Not sure if you need a special type of screw top, but can you buy a couple of bottles of wine with screw tops, drink them and reuse the bottle?
I've got a few bottles of Hardys Voyage here, they have screw tops (metal ones) ...and don't taste bad either!0 -
I have just made a load of elderflower cordial (yesterday). I ended up with about five or six pints, which was a surprise!
I had saved and sterilised an old glass elderflower cordial bottle (bought for £2.99  - why do you think I was making it myself?!!!!) and poured the first lot into that. The remainder I decanted into plastic squash bottles and put into the freezer. Apparently (search earlier threads for elderflower) it doesn't keep for very long but lasts very well in the freezer. I thought I'd use the lot in the glass bottle and then gradually decant the frozen versions into that bottle as it got used up. How moneysaving is that?!!!!
Off to make ginger beer now...0 -
Incidentally, I couldn't get hold of tartaric acid AT ALL - no-one sold it - so I used citric acid instead (same quantities) and it's turned out fine. Also I notice that the Duchy Originals Elderflower Cordial bottle lists citric acid and not tartaric acid so I'm in good company!0
