Loan Advice - Previous Bankrupt

I was made bankrupt in September 2006, mainly as the result of a rather messy divorce which ended up with all my assets going to the ex leaving me with the debts!

I had excellent credit history before the BR, and since then have earned a reasonable income. I have a business bank a/c, personal a/c and a Vanquis card with a small amount.

Problem is my car is now 11 years old and really could do with replacement before I have to spend a fortune on it. I earn £25k and would be wanting to spend around £5-6k on a replacement.

Given my history has anyone any suggestions? I have heard that HP is easier to get as the lender owns the car till final payment unlike a normal loan, but there seem so many sharks out there I want to be careful who I approach.

Any help appreciated
