Where to sell china?

Hi Everyone
I have quite a lot of fine china - Royal Worcester Regency Blue, which was discontinued in the mid 1990s. I've got 8 each (I think) of dinner plate, medium sized plate, side plate, small bowl, tea cup & saucer, and then various veg dishes, serving plate, gravy boat etc. (I think I haven't got quite as many as 8 of one or two things, but haven't counted yet!) Most of it was bought new although a few pieces were second hand and a few were from the Royal Worcester seconds shop (although I can't see anything wrong with them). A few of the pieces have been used a few times, while others are completely unused.
I never use it and it just sits in a cupboard, which is a waste of it. I'd like to sell it. I assume it would be worth more as a collection than as individual pieces. What is the best way for me to sell it? I've never done anything like this before, so any advice would be appreciated. I live in the SW of England.
Thank you.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

This is a problem i have too, lots of china and no great idea how much it's worth or the best way to sell it. i had a look at ebay, but the stuff there seems hit and miss and mostly buy it now....so looks like a waiting game. IT seems an easy way to get into trouble with damaged items too maybe ? There is a chance of a foreign buyer paying more I think though.
On my travels I found a UK company which buys and sell ths stuff and will at least give a clue to value if nothing else. This page is their SELL page...so won't be the price they buy it, they do however have a phone number and actually have a courier come to get china which may be useful.

There is another version of that worcester...in this list. http://chinasearch.co.uk/buy/royal-worcester/ if that one isn't same as yours.
looking quite good for dinner plates if that's yours isn't it ?
An auction would probably be the best option, but depends on there being enough interested people on the day.

ebay can be very good for dinner sets/china sometimes. I sold a collection of Denby a few years ago that was very sought after and went for around £250 - it all depends whether there are 2 people who want something.
Do a search on ebay and see what it goes for. People will travel to collect but you can also pack very well and send by courier. But it does depend on how sought after something is (and the time of year - not sure that run up to Christmas will be a good time).
You could also ask a local auction house for a valuation as this sort of thing does sometimes fetch a good price (but there fees are worse than ebay most of the time so check that).
I am not sure if it worth more as a collection or as individual pieces - personally I would try and get rid of it as one lot just to simplify the process.0 -

I see you're new to the boards - welcome.
We find that if people post a comment every time they want to say thank you for something then the threads tend to get a bit cluttered. So if you see a post you want to say "thank you" for, then just click the "Thanks" button that you'll see at the bottom right of the post, along with some other buttons. It took me ages to work that out when I first arrived!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? If you go to stoke-on-trent you can buy a lot of china at very cheap prices from auctions at the pottery manufacturers themselves. Some people are making fortunes withh certain items.0

Thanks nexuss, but I don't want to buy it cheap - I want to sell it for as much as I can get!Do you know anyone who's bereaved? A firm that I have sold tableware to is firm called Replace Your China Good prices and they usually collect if you live in the south of England. Worth a try. You can find them on Google quite easily.0

good thread, I have some Lladro to sell, is there any special places I should look at to get the best prices? Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. That's a handy resource for photos to help ID your china :T Not many are helpful like that without serious digging around.
I had a trip to an auction to see how this kind of stuff went...and basically it didn't.
People were a little sparse I was told, mostly dealers stocking up cheap while the public are out Xmas shopping maybe?
I asked a few questions in the boring moments, and was told that :-
Attractive sets sell best, full sets in perfect condition that are nice looking have a much bigger market than just dealers. The problem then is that the cost is beyond normal bidders...a really nice set of new will be cheaper and more attractive to impulse buyers.
I was also told that the some folk will pay seriously for one or two parts of a set that are easily damaged (tea cups and tureens lose handles commonly)...people want their own set full again. Where they can be found...who knows.
I saw some awesome stuff go for peanuts at that auction, furniture that craftsmen had spent hours making for MFI prices or less...a little depressing to watch.
Auction is right off my list for selling after that day. especially considering they charge a fair whack for the service.
The hunt continues
I hope some of you have had better success.
