Christmas puddings

Hi

I love Christmas pudding! :rudolf: I know, I'm weird :D Last year, I got one from Selfridges and wasn't overly impressed by it. Can anybody recommend a truly yummy Christmas pudding?

Marks & Spencers - gold box -conisseur Christmas Pud - they were giving out samples in store the other day and it is a long time since I tasted one so nice - think I paid £4.99.

Actually that's a great idea Kavanne. I am starting to get very short on time though with shopping and loads of other things to do. If I speak to my Mum very nicely, she may make one though (she's retired). Does it take a long time to make? If not I might look out the M&S one. Anybody got any other recommendations?

The actual mixing of the pudding was very quick (sub half hour) but it took 3 hrs to steam so that's the biggie. You can pretty much leave it alone during that though and just keep topping the water up every now and then.

I used this recipe: http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/536566 (my mother in law is vegetarian and I do not find vegetarian suet a substitute for the real thing)

  • :rotfl:I had the most delicious Christmas pud on Monday at Chatsworth House - it was apparently a Matthew Walker one. I looked in Morrisons and guess what? it is on offer this week, buy one -get one free £4.99 so I think this is a double bargain. It does have nuts in though so not for people with an allergy, but absolutely gorgeous.
