quick question about online grocery stuffs

Im thinking it might be an idea to order my xmas food shop now and have it delivered to avoid any horrendous supermarket rage!

ive seen alot of people who book their delivery slots now, i assume this means you order your food now and just have it delivered later?

q1: how on earth do i order a turkey as i cant find it on Mr A website,

q2: when do they take the payment?

q3: is their a way i can book the slot now but shop nearer the date? i want it delivered on 23rd! and ive booked a slot between 1-3pm at the min but it says held until 11.32pm today? how do i secure it?

much obliged OSers!

    A1 - I can't find them either sorry

Q2 - normally the delivery date

Q3 - I've just put 25 quids worth of stuff (min order req) in the trolley and gone through the checkout, later to the date I will amend the list to what I actually want!

I cant bear the thought of fighting my way through the shops to get fresh cream and vegetables so I've just booked an online delivery for 22nd; as prettypaula says, you need to check out to secure the delivery slot. they might take a token payment of a few pennies (not sure if they still do this?) but they won't take the actual order payment till the delivery day.

  • I just read a thing about fresh turkey on tseco onlines' newsletter - there is loads of blurb about ordering one now for the shopping thats coming near xmas. After the 14th you cant adjust your amount of turkeys. Theyre only delivered 20th-23rd, so change your date = lose your turkey.

I booked a delivery for the 22nd, yipee, and now I have ages to make it the best xmas shop ever, instead of the mad rush around the shop buying and spending way too much. I just wonder how much will be substitutions or not in stock

I know it's a bit late as you've done it, but to secure my slot I stick an expensive bottle of whiskey in my basket and then checkout the order. Then a bit closer to the time when I know what I want, I go to amend my order, get rid of whiskey and replace with normal shopping.

Mr T lets me book my delivery slot with just a token order - sometimes it's less than the delivery charge. I then will add to my order whenever I want to leading up to the night before my order is going to be delivered - I've found I can make changes to my order up tiill 10pm the night before.

To try and get round the not in stock/sustitutions problem I try and make sure that anything I really need I make a note of what I would actually like in case of substitution.

And like everyone else has said, they take full payment on the day of your order, when your shopping has been done by the people instore.

It's a lot less stressful thats for sure :D
  • If anybody is on the new Tesco shopping system (the address is https://www.tesco.com/groceries/ instead of https://www.tesco.com/superstore/) then you can also add coupons to your order when amending it if you've subsequently hit the minimum requirements for them.
