I´ve just made an orange cake, and poured in a syrup (bit like you do with a lemon drizzle) and left it to soak in.
I want to add a soft creamy icing, using some sort of flavouring (don´t know what, perhaps brandy) and using icing sugar with quark, marscapone or cream cheese, but I need some ideas and inspiration please

Hi Sandy, you could mix 200g philly and 50g softened butter - cream together until squidgy and no lumps. Then add 275g icing sugar (or enough to thicken). You could flavour it with orange zest? I also add a teaspoon of vanilla extract. (Taken from rachel allens recipe)A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Thanks zippychick for such a quick response, I wondered if adding an orange flavour icing to the orange cake might be a bit too much orange, if you know what I mean

http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1536149&highlight=orange+cakeHmmm could be. You could top with crushed up chocolate - flake or choc buttons (that's what I do! ) . Or you could make the icing up with icing sugar and orange juice? Ill look and see if there are any threads , may be ideas there
