new tax on those in the private sector

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/8390001.stm

How unfair, after all it is their right, especially seeing as their taxes pay the wages of street cleaners & the nhs...
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

How will they issue a £1000 fine to people who've given false details?

No need to pay any fine: use the bins!

I so wish people did use bins provided. My heart sinks on a daily basis, watching idiots throwing stuff on the floor, or from car windows, or anywhere. Our environments are made so horrible by litter, & it saddens me to see, especially when a little bit of time & effort & consideration would lead to litter being taken home, or put in a bin that is only 5 yards away anyway.

The positive impact of this on the local environments could be high.

& we'd be able to reduce people's taxes, as there would be less staff required to pick up the litter :A (though we may need more to empty the bins...:D

We have a disused railway line outside the village which I walk past twice a day. I have had to take stuff to the tip roughly twice a month. By stuff I do not mean the odd crisp packet, but, for example, an old tv, speakers and armchair one day, 2 little kegs another, what looked like that cheap chipboard from the back of self assembly bookcases.....a library full, some painted some not another day.

Every couple of weeks when I remember :o I grab a feed bag from the barn to walk the road route home, and pick up what did look in passing as the odd crisp bag, but which sometimes almost fills my feed sack. Apple cores, even dog mess, out here is not a problem in the least....but that stuff that doesn't break down is not so great.

There are a few sites around our village used for fly tipping, and what I don't understand is...if someone put it in a car to bring it to dump in a ditch/hedge/gateway/field...why not just take it to the nearest tip/recycling centre (about a short fifteen minute drive away from here) the random stuff can't be business waste that's charged for.

Round here it can get quite bad with fly tipping. Businesses do it. There have been cases of lethal chemicals & waste dumped.

There was even a case recently where a footballer was fined as it was alleged he'd dumped a lot of his stuff. The local environmental health went through the rubbish & found several documents with his name on. His defence was that he'd paid someone to clear a house for him.

Rather than employing people and fining people and dragging them through the courts, why don't they just put out some fag bins. You can never find a fag bin in the street.
