Feeling low, need help picking myself back up

good morning everyone !
I just want a wee bit of help picking myself back up after a disappointment. OH just found out yesterday that he was turned down for a promotion at work and it has left me feeling really down. We have a baby on the way and desperately need the money as I am now on maternity leave and in a couple of months time I will be down to about a third of my salary......wouldn't be so bad but promotions only come along once in a blue moon where he works, (this was the first opportunity in 3 1/2 years) and he loves his job and where he works so he doesn't want to look elsewhere, which I completely respect as I know from experience how awful it is to hate your job. We've had a hard few years and I just felt that things were turning round for us now and that we were due a bit of good luck, but .........I feel just as disappointed for him as I do for myself every time I have been knocked back for a job that I applied for. is that weird ?

Morning
Things happen in life that get us up and down all the time, and its not weird at all you feeling disapointed cos obviously as a couple you live through problems together and have both been excited about the prospect of a promotion for him. Things will work out in the end as they always do.
I know babies can be expensive but you can cut back and save money on certain things, (getting stuff from friends family) such as prams etc and all a child needs to be happy is love and care, not expensive stuff0 -
I'm sorry to hear hubby didn't get the promotion, have you posted your soa so we can help you cut back? I'm a single mum myself, and I know what it's like to be bombarded with 'you must have this, that and a babywipe heater for your baby, otherwise you're a bad mum'. But you don;t need that much for the tyke - I found ebay a great source for stuff, and carboots for clothes.
Keep your chin up chick, it will get better, cos evey day you're getting closer. This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!

Awww darling. Sorry to hear about your husbands news. How you are feeling is not weird at all - you just want your husband to do well in life. I got knocked back for a permanent job at my old place of work and I kept bursting into tears at work! It's funny how things can get to us isn't it?
Can you both have a treat tonight or something? A nice dinner and enjoy the evening sunshine?
Big hugs to you both

yeah, I know myself that stuff happens, the same thing (and a lot worse) is happening to people all over the country every day of the week. Its such a relief to post on here and 'talk' to people who understand....
thanks for listening!

Hugs. Baby stuff can be bought quite cheap off ebay and car boot sales. Also you tend to get loads of presents. Everyone has setbacks, but you are no worse off than you were before. So chin up and keep smiling.Barclaycard 3800

Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

hi there
sorry to hear about your husband's news. of course you'll feel disappointed and know the worry that it must cause.
however you have to remember that whatever you're feeling is also being transferred in some way to your little life inside of you. try not to be too distressed. you've both made it this far and you'll continue to push forward if you both remain positive.
have you tried freecycle.org. they've got lots of baby stuff on there. see if there's on in your area.
chin up my dear. when one door is closed, somewhere a window is opened.MFW Newbie - #17. (#116 in 2019)

Just happened to see this:
If I were asked to give what I consider the single most useful bit of advice for all humanity, it would be this: Expect trouble as an inevitable part of life, and when it comes, hold your head high. Look it squarely in the eye, and say, 'I will be bigger than you. You cannot defeat me.'
