My cookies dont look right!!!!

Okay so this morning I decided to start my baking.

Ive got in the oven cookies with choc chips, raisins and porridge oats.

The recipe says they will take roughly 10 -12 mins to cook. The bottom edges of the cookies look brown, but the top of the cookies are soft and gooey!!!!!!!
Will they harden up at bit if I keep them in the oven a bit longer, or will they harden up when they cool?

Im completely hopeless at baking :(

Jackie

hi Jackie. I've not managed to get cookies right yet, but i believe you take them out sligghtly underdone and they stay chewy once "set" if that makes sense? As longas your oven was the right temp etc i would leave them out ok (or maybe as a tester put half back in? Entirely up to yourself!)
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

they will firm up quite dramatically as they cool. I always forget this and my first batch always end up overdone! Depending on the mix, once they're tinged with brown and not soggy they'll firm up beautifully. Leave them on the greaseproof paper/tin for a couple of minutes then pop onto a wire tray if you hvae one - use a fish slice if they're still quite bendy.
  • Sounds like they are fine.
They do firm up - I put mine on a cooling rack and then store them in a screw top jar this keeps them crispy for a good few days - but in my house they only last a day or two - cos they get munched by the kids and their mates:rotfl:
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

    Thanks everyone for your replies,

They seem to have turned out okay (although I havent tasted them yet), and the did firm up on cooling.

Ive now got brownie mix in the oven, I hope this turns out okay (fingers crossed).
