(or is it just wishful thinking on my part? )

I spent several hours the other day looking for the same but just came across expensive ones all the time, nothing cheap. Some waterboards do have subsidised/free ones so you will need to check with yours to see if they can help.

I have gone with a cheaper option, as mentioned in a previous thread here (search for water butt), and thats to use an old 200 litre food storage container got from ebay for a grand sum of £19 including delivery, ok its blue and not garden friendly green but a hanging plant will soon hide it :) If you want to go larger search for IBC tanks these come in at a massive 1000 litres for £40 if you are willing to pick them up - be warned full loaded they weigh 1 tonne so need a good base. Hopefully by the time mine will be plumbed in to the guttering it will be just short of £30. Not bothered about saving the money from the water bill as still on rates not meter but would just like to use the stuff that drops out of the sky.

Severn Trent offer a subsidised water butt but it's still very expensive! :o

Got my water butt from Wilkinsons £14.99, sorry don't know the water capacity but its just about half the size of the large black composters (also £6 from our council).

After you posted that saw someone walking out of our new wilkos this morn on the way to work so popped in but couldnt see anything in their garden section, so maybe they just nabbed the last one as our store is quite small compared to some I have seen.

Visited the website, www.wilkoplus.co.uk, and would you believe they do 2 versions:

210 ltr for £19.99 or 120ltr for £14.99, both come with taps just £5 delivery, mind you to find it on their website you have to go down to Pond Accessories??? Will probably order this as the blue ones from ebay don't have the tap so would prob end up nearer £25 anyway.

Now will just need to sort out the guttering at the weekend.

PS anyone in Taunton, Somerset fancy going halves on delivery as its only £5 for orders under £40 so that would make the large butts £22.49 each which would be a bargain.
