Afternoon! Social services people have just gone, they went through the whole employing a PA thing, and since they do most/all of the admin stuff it sounds very straightforward.
Can I pick the brains of any of you who know about payroll and tax and stuff though? I'm going to get a cleaner. I thought about employing the PA for a couple of extra hours myself, so that I only have to get used to one person. SS though said I'd have to check they were registered as self employed with the tax man, as it'd be a private arrangement and their accountants and people wouldn't deal with it. If they are registered then it's fine, nothing to do with me when it comes to tax and NI. If they're not though, what would be my responsibilities and how hard would it be to administer? As the employer I'd be responsible for paying those things, would the IR tell me how much to pay them or do I have to do complicated assessments and things?
If it's going to be complicated I'll go to an agency, but don't really fancy having a different person round each week.
Postie was good to me today though, a nice skirt I bought on ebay, a diamond charm, a graze box, and my first xmas card and party invite! (I'm trying to forget that since it's from my mental health outreach place it makes me sad for being excited about it!).Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Hi everyone! I'm supposed to be at uni today but woke up with the dreaded vomiting bug that seems to be doing to rounds here at the moment. So i'm all tucked up in bed just browsing for some Christmas gifts. Only have 3 left to get and they appear to be the hardest ones too! The plus side of being home is that I've saved myself about £20 today with the travel costs and food costs of going into central London. Got my charm from Hot Diamonds today - packaging bit OTT and the charm is quite small!
Will now have to buy a silver chain for it to go on I think.
Didn't have the internet for a whole day yesterday, luckily had friends round last night otherwise wouldn't have known what to do with myself!OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

Tenmah, I know, it's like those kids games where you stick your hand in and try and find the toy! I need a silver chain now too, been looking online to find the cheapest. I'm going to try a shop in town next time I go in, they do discount jewellery.
No internet? I have nightmares about that!Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
wow - you've been really quiet today. most things that I've been expecting have now arrived (no hotel chocolat though). The teddy's photo looks a bit fragile so guess it'll be something to look at rather than for the nephew to play with! HD charm came through and can only agree with everyone else that the packaging is a mite excessive! The hiho silver bracelet I got for my friend for Christmas came as well and looks quite delicate but lovely (and a sensible amount of packaging) and the books I ordered came from the book people. So I now need to get a friend's pressie, Wayne's stocking filler pressie and something for Evie and then I'm done with presents this year!!!
Evie was grand a waterbabies today but I still didn't get home in time to take her to the baby clinic
so I'm going to take her to another local evening clinic to check her weight especially after the sickness bug she had and talk about her nappy rash which keeps flaring up and looks quite nasty!
I got a little bit tipsy at our meal out yesterday, enough to feel a little tender at the edges and need a good couple of glasses of water to drink before I felt better. Wont be drinking so much in a great hurry.
Hugs to you all (wether you need or want one the hug is there),

Ooh lucky people getting nice things in the post. It feels a bit weird having done all my Christmas shopping already, feel I should be rushing about doing stuff but I don't have to!
Cat - hope Evie is OK, nappy rash, ouch!
Have spent the afternoon doing research for job interview and generally panicking at how to answer questions :rolleyes:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
