I put potato tubers in apple boxes from supermarket to sprout (or chit). They have advantage that you can put in about 25 tubers, into the dimpled trays. Boxes have handles for easy transportaion, and can be stacked, for those of us who grow 3 or 4 varieties. Can stack an empty box on top to keep out the light.

Next year grow them again, using experience learnt to do them better, and add a couple of new things. Otherwise, you risk growing lots of things, but none of them well.
Another really inspirational thread is "what are you growing in June" (there's a fresh thread every month). Just looked for it, but can't find!! Aahrrgh. Will give you loads of ideas and inspiration. See if you can find it and let me know!

Hi Penny,
Thanks for all the great advice so far, and also for the offer of cucumber seeds - that'd be fab! My husband has spent most of the day laughing at my ideas  (he thinks I'm about as green fingered as a tiger) but I will prove him wrong!
I have also sorted out a composter so can start making our own compost soon - yay!
Am going to start this weekend by doing a bin of potatos, and a pot of garlic, and get a bed ready for some veggies too. I've decided where to site it and will take a piccie of it so I can do a before and after type thing - perhaps I could add them to the monthly thread?
Thanks again for all your help folks,
