Upside down tomato planter

Options
I found this brilliant idea whilst brousing a few sites about growing veges.

It's an upside down tomato planter, made from an old 2ltr coke bottle.

I though this is great, and for those who don't have much space is an excellent idea.

I've already got my main tomatoes out side, but I was thinking about having a go with mu cherry tomatoes. I've got a tri-pod style clothes airer/hanging thing, which I'm going to hang them on, on my patio.

I'll report back on how it goes.

    Quick update,

I tried this 3 days ago, and hay presto - my tomato plant stayed in, it's even looking healthier. I looked at it this morning and the leaves have turned over to face upwards for the sun.

This pick was taken 2 days ago, but it gives you an idea.

I hope it'll get a lot bigger, the bottle seems to act as a water reservoir at the bottom so it doesn't dry out like it does in grow bags.

Wow - I'll watch keenly to see how this works out. I'm growing my cherry toms in a typical hanging basket and it constantly dries out.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.
